Hi, I'm Bryony -
Hi, I'm Bryony -
I’m passionate about helping people understand how their mind works so they can take charge of their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, and create positive change. Having experienced Solution Focused Hypnotherapy myself, I know how powerful it can be — and it’s a privilege to now help others feel calmer, happier, and more confident.
About Me
About Me
I was born in Wales, grew up in Devon, and later headed north to study at the University of Leeds before training as a teacher at the University of Birmingham. These days, I’m happily back in Devon by the sea, where I live with my husband and children.
My background is in education — I taught in primary schools and special educational settings for over 20 years. In 2022, I decided to retrain as a hypnotherapist. I studied at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training Centre in Bristol, where I gained a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DSFH) and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD), recognised as the gold standard by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH). In 2025, I also added a coaching qualification to my practice.
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll usually find me ferrying my sons to football matches across Devon (muddy boots and all), swimming at the local pool (a joy I’ve happily rediscovered after more than 20 years), or walking in the forests around Haldon. I also have an unexpected appreciation for concrete — a city skyline or Brutalist building makes me just as happy as a forest of trees. And when I take time to relax, I love a good book, a gripping box set, or simply enjoying a quiet moment.
Or sometimes, just having a little snooze 😴
My Story
My Story
About ten years ago, I was walking along the local beach with my family. The sky was blue, the waves gentle, sunlight glimmering on the water — the kind of day that should have felt perfect — but I didn’t feel that way.
On the outside, life was good. I had so much to be grateful for: a loving family, a good job, a life I’d built. On paper, I had everything I wanted (okay, there’s always room for another pair of shoes!). But I knew I wasn’t feeling how I wanted to. I should have been enjoying the view and the company, but my brain wouldn’t switch off — I was busy overthinking everything. I was distracted, frazzled, and frustrated with myself. It was stopping me from being able to really enjoy the good things I already had.
In that moment I realised that I wanted more for myself, more from my experience of life. I wanted to feel different. I wanted to feel better.
I wanted to feel calmer, happier, more present, and to be confident that I could really enjoy my life (we only get one, after all!). And that realisation led me to try something new: Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.
I’d always been a bit reluctant to seek help outside of the support of family or friends, telling myself I should just be able to get on with things and make the changes on my own. But if, like so many of us, you’ve lived with a busy, overthinking mind, self-doubt, or lack of confidence — or you’ve ever felt low, unmotivated, or overwhelmed — you’ll know it’s not that simple.
If we could just decide to think or feel differently when we wanted to, we’d all do it in a heartbeat. But it doesn’t work like that. And that’s exactly why Solution Focused Hypnotherapy made sense to me — because if I couldn’t make those changes consciously, perhaps working with my subconscious was the key.
From the very first session, I noticed a shift. I felt calmer, lighter, and so much more relaxed. I also felt a genuine sense of hope and relief — the kind of hope where you just know it’s going to be ok, and the relief of knowing I was finally going to feel so much better. And after a short series of sessions, I really did. I felt more positive, more present, and I was able to find real joy in my everyday life. My family noticed the difference in me too — and they benefited from it just as much as I did.
It wasn’t about forcing myself to “think positively,” and there wasn’t a swinging pocket watch in sight. It was about focusing on how I wanted to be thinking and feeling. How I wanted to experience my life. It was about working with my subconscious mind in a way that helped me naturally achieve what I wanted. And I really enjoyed the sessions too — they were relaxing, uplifting, and something I genuinely looked forward to each week.
The more I learned about why it worked, the more fascinated I became. I discovered how our mind influences everything — from our thoughts and feelings to our nervous system and even the chemicals in our body.
Understanding more about my brain and how our minds work gave me a huge sense of confidence. From that point on, I knew I could look forward to the future, certain I could handle the ups and downs of life. I also felt reassured knowing that hypnotherapy would always be there if I needed it again.
Hypnotherapy enabled me to achieve what I wanted: to feel calmer, be happier, and truly enjoy the life I have.
My own experience is what inspired me to train and qualify as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Mindset Specialist. I’m passionate about helping people make the changes they want and understand more about how their minds work — because when we do, we feel so much more in control of our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
What I love most about my work is supporting people to achieve what matters most to them — whether that’s feeling calmer, happier, more confident, or something else entirely — so they can get the most out of their experience of life.
If you’re ready to make positive changes, I’d love to work with you.
